Information about the Boquete Jazz & Blues Foundation
The Boquete Jazz & Blues Foundation is a non-profit organization producing the Boquete Jazz & Blues Festival
Thanks! I make an annual contribution to the Music for Schools program too. I love parades.
Does the festival have official designation as a benefit function from the Panama government? Does the Foundation submit any type of reports to the Panamanian government that are equivalent to those required of US non-profits? (e.g., similar to a Form 990 for 501c3 non-profits).
Bill, the tickets for Boquete Residents is already steeply discounted. In addition, the event benefits not-for-profits so the discount does not apply. Sorry. It's still a great deal for a WEEKEND of fabulous jazz and blues music by musicians from all over the world! Hope you will join us.
The discount in this Boquete Residents offer is $20. The BJBF website indicates that the public ticket price is $120 through August 31, 2016 for 3-day general admission. I would rather have a 50% jubilado discount on the $120 price.
Law No. 6 of 16 June 1987:
Descuento de 50% de los precios que se cobren por la entrada a actividades de recreación y entretenimiento, tales como cines, teatros, deportes y demás espectáculos públicos. Este descuento no es aplicable a las actividades de beneficencia cuyas utilidades sean destinadas a la niñez, a damnificados y programas debidamente autorizados por la autoridad competente.
Exclusion from the jubilado discount law provisions for entertainment venues would require the event to be identified as a benefit. I do not find that marking in any of the advertising.

I didn't see any way to process the 50% jubilado discount on entertainment venues. How do I do that?
It is actually a benefit for two purposes. Here is a link to the website explaining the Foundation.
