There is now a group for climate change discussion so I am closing this thread. If anyone wants to discuss the impact of climate change on Boquete or Panama please start a locally relevant discussion of the changes here and the impact they are having here.
If you think there have not been changes in Boquete's climate you have not been here long.
"My side" doesn't make "predictions" so how could they fail?
My group is not about "opinion" but logic, reason and evidence.
You do understand the concept of evidence, do you not? v
And feel free to create your own group to be able to discuss your opinions without interference.
Unfortunately Walter, not only was the internet was developed for scientists to share information, it has developed into the primary venue for the sharing of scientific data and information among universities, research institutes and related organizations - and between scientists.
The internet is also a hodgepodge of a monstrous amount most of the information and data of modern civilization, ranging from truth, facts and good evidence to the most outrageous lies and misinformation that one can imagine. Although I see your suggestion as sincere, it really boils down to suggesting that people debate without access to information - and that simply doesn't work.
I could hold my own very well in a debate based on my current knowledge, but I interact with the world of science and academia every day - via the internet.
As American President Ronald Reagan once said, "trust but verify," and that is what I do - trust my knowledge and memory, but constantly verify my information and knowledge to try to maintain accuracy.
Shouldn't Dave be sent to his group where he can spout his nonsense to the believers without dissent from people with common sense?
Such a reversal of reality with fantasy reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
The virtual carpetbagger needs a place to spout his nonsense. Wish he would move his nonsense to a forum closer to where he lives but maybe they don't have forums in Colorado, maybe just opium dens!!!

Boffins are alarmed by the rising trend of some pundits ending every comment with the bellwether of mediocrities:
"lol".
International teams of men in white coats have been dispatched to investigate all reports of cretins figuratively and relentlessly "laughing out loud". The teams have been equipped with giant butterfly nets with which they will effectively subdue chuckleheaded clodpoles demonstrating chronic overuse of the cheesy phrase.
Intellectuals everywhere are expected to celebrate the success of a rigorous and effective campaign.
LWD,
wryawry
ok, so maybe I will LOL instead , "laugh out low"
Perhaps you are correct about "warmists" - whatever you mean with that ill-defined terminology.
But I take my position - and stake my credibility - on climate science not some imaginary "ism."
Science doesn't make "claims" and "predictions" about the future - it suggests trends and scenarios with likelihoods and confidence intervals. It deals with and evaluates subtleties which seem to be beyond the grasp of comprehension for many people - and/or ignored by the AGW/CC denial industry and community.
I cringe at the ignorance displayed when people who say things like "the warmists claim that AGW/CC caused events like hurricane and super-storm Sandy", because science only says that it is was likely that AGW/CC influenced such events, and likely to increasetheir frequency.
Unfortunately, the press - especially the U.S, press, including major outlets (Fox news being the most guilty) and minor sources (too numerous to list) - often helps to perpetuate myths and spread misinformation.
in MY English "making claims" and "suggesting trends" are the same thing....with "likelyhoods" are "predictions"...but excuse me , because I took English as a foreign language...maybe it means different things if you grew up with English??
