The chief of Police of Chiriqui has accepted the Dirección de Responsabilidad Profesional to carry out an internal investigation to clarify what exactly went wrong following the distress call(s) to the police, that early morning that Nuris was murdered.
The police was informed about the attack round 4 a.m. but arrived after 7 a.m. that same morning.
“Our task is to protect and serve the community. That day there had been a miscommunication about the location of the incident. As a result, the police did not arrive (in time) at the emergency scene.”
Amaya also revealed that the Boquetenian police will be reinforced by eighteen new police units / policemen.
Shouldn't the police have had the caller's phone number and called back when they discovered they were in the wrong place? They were not that far away and could have been there in minutes.

this is meant for some of the posters here (you know who you are): would you speak to each other this way if you were face-to-face? seems to be very much like playground talk.
remember this is original post is about a heinous crime against an innocent woman on her way to work.
now, put on your big boy pants & show some respect.
I see two camps in this thread. Those who care and are concerned, and those who are self-absorbed. The point is clear – there was a rape/murder in Boquete, and there is crime in Boquete (yes, all over the world, but Boquete is our home). I never said crime-infested Mr. “I’m a facts kind of a guy.”
Some of us are concerned and would like to find a solution so that other incidents like this do not occur. Those who say this does not affect their own life can then go find another thread to rant on.
What are the paths forward? Talking to the mayor, to the police, to Alto de Crimen. Making more posts like this one. Getting the word out to the criminals that we will not be abused. Talk to your fellow Panamanian. The police are actually glad that we are concerned, that we feel Panama is our home and that we would like safety for all. This type of crime has to stop. We, the community, can help to make that happen.
My wife and I knew Nurys Castrellon from the restaurant. My heart goes out to her children and family.
Mr. Flynn. Do you have a solution to crime? I'm sure the whole world would like to know. How do we go about, in your words "getting the word out to criminals that we will not be abused" ? Please be specific as to how to get the word out and your solution. This is not a simple solution problem.
There may be two camps in your world, but I don't know what the "self-absorbed " camp even means. Most likely those you don't agree with.

So it seems, the police went to the Wilson Bridge instead of the pedestrian zarzo where Nuris was attacked:
Se dijo por parte de un alto oficial, que la policía “confundió” el puente y fue al de los Wilson.

Thanks Susan, you are absolutely right.

Getting back to the discussion, Police and the usual political opportunists were noticeably absent from the rally on Saturday

You live in Caldera. Why are you commenting on a place you do not live? In your comments you state you live in Boquete.
