This is definitely a matter of opinion. Taxis and the bus are inexpensive and very easy. A crammed taxi can be annoying at times, but Alto is close to town and easily navigated by public transport. Cars are convenient, especially for David trips, but not necessary.
I suppose it's a matter of opinion Walter and that's yours. We have not found a need to have a car. We live in David of course, but even for the 5 years in San Pablo Viejo we didn't need a car. There is excellent bus and taxi service in Panama and it's cheap.

Depending on where you are in Alto, you may still want to take a taxi.
But you have to admit, the Gucci store in Alto is nothing the ones in New York, San Francisco, or Milan:)
