Cool, Green and the best Coffee in the world
Does anyone have experience using Ooma Voip phone service here in Panama? We have had magicJack, but have been unable to renew with them in spite of multiple attempts. Before switching over to Ooma, we would like to know if anyone has experience - good or bad - with Ooma.
Thanks,
Ed and Ginny Kraft

Permalink Reply by Dennis Nutting on July 22, 2012 at 1:33pm I had magic jack and have switched to Ooma -- it is a much better quality service. My calls are significantly improved with using Ooma! I switched to it based on a friend's recommendation and am glad I did.
Permalink Reply by Susan Goch on July 22, 2012 at 7:30pm I have also been unable to renew with no explanation. Did you get an explanation?
Permalink Reply by Edwin Kraft on July 22, 2012 at 10:16pm I tried their "On-line chat" three times. Each time the person (by the grammar, probably in Mumbai) said they were submitting it to the review department and I would get an email with resolution; nothing ever happened. You are the third person with this same problem here. I also sent an email today to the supposed founder of magicJack but have not received a reply yet. I have had some good reports on Ooma, so will probably be switching; you can port your magicJack phone number over to Ooma. Good Luck. Ed

I was sure you said "if anyone has experience - good or bad - with Obama".
Permalink Reply by Deborah on July 22, 2012 at 11:01pm I think there is a prior discussion that points out that you cannot renew from a Panamanian IP address; you have to do it while in the US or via a VPN that has a US IP address...if you're otherwise happy with Magic Jack, you might try searching for that discussion.
Permalink Reply by Susan Goch on July 23, 2012 at 4:05pm Thanks Deborah. I had Claro previously and I couldn't get UStvnow because the Claro IP is US based. I switched to Planet telecom and now I have UStvnow but no Magic Jack.
We just renewed MagicJack today using a VPN that has a US IP address. No problem.
