What with all the recent discussions about weather and water...just wondering how those who suffer from arthritis cope with the cool/wet climate and if hot tubs are a way of life in Bouquete.
thanks

I found out the hard way jacuzzi tubs are not the answer. one when they installed it in my home they did not put a portal door in the wall, so no way to get into for repairs if needed. the second problem is i am not a year round resident so my water tank gets algie build up as i am sure many have this issue. this algie clogs the filter system and being i have no access no way to clean out now the pump does not pump the water. Major repair as need to punch hole in wall etc to clean out . not worth it to me
google DMSO it is a very powerful anti inflammatory and very cheap to buy. It is absorbed by putting it on clean skin. (I spray it on, no rubbing needed) The pharma companies poo poo it because they can't make money from it. Horse trainers have used it for years. I have used it for about 8 months and it has been a tremendously huge help to a debilitating situation. Would not want to be without it.
Good food also helps with inflamatory disease. I have MS and my self imposed food intake excludes packaged foods, fast food, soda and it helps with providing me with a more pain free life. Hope to see ya'll before the end of the year.
I find my back does not hurt so bad when i am in Panama as well. Buying a Jacuzzi for my new home in Boquete. have not bought yet. If you know dealers i should stay away from please let me know. Just the opposite if there is one you recommend let me know

Somewhere in David the other day I was pleasantly surprised to see a sign for Watkins Hot Springs Spas. Don't remember where, though! Maybe you could ask through Watkins.
IMO this company is absolutely the best and their product is very sturdy, therapeutic and (can be) quite compact. They also supply Ozonators. When I had one I rarely ever used any chemicals, and it stayed clean.
I now have a SoftTub, which I don't recommend for the Boquete climate. What is very nice about it is that you can empty it, roll it into a garage and leave it for the winter (to come to Boquete). What is not good in Panama is that, I am told, they melt! Plus there are no special seats, moto-massagers or other special features. It's just heat and jets. But OH! So comforting in the cold (but best when there's a snowstorm or snow all around...)

Thanks Greg. I think with an ozonator you don't need the anti-bacterial chemicals (such as chlorine), just the ones to balance pH, etc. So that might be the best solution.
Greg, is it easy to find the chemicals for the hot tub? Can you get the non-chlorine kind? I used to use one in the U.S. that was based on hydrogen peroxide. You didn't have to sit in the tub breathing chlorine (or bromine) fumes. Do they also have test kits for pH and the rest of the stuff you have to keep in balance? Do they have ozonators here?
