Panama prepares to transfer some 3,000 U.S.-bound Cuban migrants to Mexico
Panama has started to conduct a census of U.S.-bound Cuban migrants stranded in that country and will soon be sending them to Mexico, where they can resume the journey north. More than 3,000 Cuban migrants are in Panama and the president said no more will be allowed through.
Panama's Foreign Ministry has started a census count of the more than 670 Cuban migrants currently housed in the Los Planes shelter in northern Chiriquí province, in anticipation for their expected transfer to Mexico in coming days.
Another 3,000 Cubans, most of whom are stranded on the border with Costa Rica, also will be allowed into the Los Planes shelter, counted and then transferred to Mexico — the final such airlift for Cuban migrants on trek to the United States, Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela said last week.
“Once the transfer of those Cubans included in the census is completed, those who arrive later will have to decide which country they want to return to,” Varela told local media as the country’s borders shut down to migrants in transit to the U.S. “We cannot become the logistical support for an irregular migration route.”

Muslims do not live off the government and have sense of entitlement. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Not all Muslims are terrorists, not all Cubans at the border are good, Panama does not care what their criminal background or education is, they are not screening, but just counting. Cubans in Miami are fed up for the most part, of course, you have the crazy extreme right ones, but now they are less and less and the education foreigners receive in Cuba is not the same as nationals do. Cuba has great educational programs for the youth that comes from communist families and foreigners, not everyone qualities for the career of their choice too.
What I find incredible is the ignorance of Americans who think it is OK for anyone to get into the U.S. illegally and change the definition from criminal ( creating a known criminal violation) and define them as a quasi "undocumented person". Try doing that in Panama or any other country in C.A. It will not work. You will get arrested and placed for deportation immediately. The thought that any American would accept this as being O.K. is incredibly ignorant to me. For the most part, undocumented is just that, no passport, no ID, no ability to tell who they are. So how can any governing body be able to insure they are not harming the people and or the system of the country they created a crime and invaded. I am not Pro Trump, BUT, he is right. They committed a crime and they have to do what every other person "immigrating" does. Do it via the legal process. End Of Story!
Ms.Marie, Cuban Adjustment Act and the US. dusty foot policy are still in effect so you are right, the invitation remains open. But many people think any special treatment or policies of U.S. Immigration should have ended right after their English, Irish, Polish, Italian, Cuban, etc. family arrived to the U.S. and became Americans.
Sadly Marie is not the larger part of the bunch who want to work and prosper. The US did NOT invite these Cubans. The Cuban Adjustment laws were enacted as a result of political persecution, which does NOT happen now. The new Cuban migrants are NOT political, but economical. The US has to reform the law and it has been in talks.
The majority of the Cubans in Miami does not agree with the continuation of these laws and does not agree with the FREE rides these people get. They automatically get benefits (cash, food stamps, medical, housing, school, etc.), all of their documents done free as well, but yet, they work under the table to collect the benefits and as soon as they have their green card, which they also get free, they go back and forth between Miami and Cuba.
Most of the professionals do not fully integrate, learn English and validate their titles, many of them perform skilled work for little money (under the table often times), therefore the salaries of legally working skilled labor has declined, insurance, credit card, medicaid and welfare fraud are highest in South Florida, scams and I can go on..... remember my background and where I live.

Yes, this was announced and posted last week, and I as a Cuban-American could not agree more. They need to close the borders. Immigration should be done 100% legally. Cubans cannot expect to let countries let them through, without any documentation just because.
I am glad it will all be regulated now. I am only hoping the US now joins in and stops letting everyone through the border.
My question now, what about the 600 Africans in the border who also want to come to the US, they have no special laws, so is it implied they are DEMANDING to cross illegally into the US, and be allowed a better life, without due process???
Panama must close its borders and stop allow the transient migrants and enforce legal process to all who want to be in Panama. When my family migrated from Cuba in 1977 to Panama, did it with visas, I was allowed to register in school and we then came to the US legally, after our residency was issued in the US, we were allowed to come back to Panama, and had to travel to the US every six months. When I graduated high school in Panama in 1988, we went to the US on a permanent basis and my dad had to wait 1 year to apply for citizenship. We paid for our paperwork and met all requirements. Same thing to keep our status in Panama, we had to follow Panama guidelines. Why should anyone be different?
Olga you are right. But people that have no ID or passport (having destroyed it or flushed through the toilet) cannot be send back to their countries of origin. Same is now happening by the millions in Europe. I lived and worked in various countries and always had my working and resident permits. The Africans are a problem that cannot be solved in Panamá. They might be from a.o. from Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana and some from Africa.
