Meet Wilberto and his mother Bertina
Wilberto, 46, has been bed-ridden and living with his mother in Potrerillos Abajo ever since he was shot and partially paralyzed in a robbery attempt at Wilberto’s place of business. On that day he lost his mobility and his livelihood. Friends and family have rallied around him to help him find a hospital bed and to get him to doctor’s and physical therapist’s appointments. Now he needs a wheelchair, which he hopes “to borrow for a short time”. Wilberto says he is determined to walk again, and to work again to help support his mother.
