Thank you everyone for your advice and your honesty and I sincerely apologize if I have offended anyone with my up front behavior.

My long distance car purchase with Keith extended over a seven month period during which he counseled me against getting several vehicles I kept thinking I wanted and when he found the right one he emailed me details and photos. The Xtrail had less than 40,000 miles on it, was and remains in great shape and the price was fair and right. He got the revisado and new plates done; he got the insurance from Magda done and active and he had his Panama city associate pick Clare and me up with it the night we landed at Tocumen and drove us to our hotel. He insisted on splitting the small fee for his associate with me. That's my recommendation and he can put it in any ad he wants. PS our rentals on our prior visits here were with Dave and were flawless. That's also a recommendation.
Marlene, we bought our vehicle from Keith Woolford in 2011. We had never met him and went with our gut feel based on recommendations from other folk (which also we had never met) ….all originating from Boquete.NING.
He sourced our car in Panama City and met us there when we arrived from Canada. Our bank messed up and did not get the funds wired into Keith’s account. Imagine our anxiety, arriving in a foreign country and not having the funds in hand to take ownership of the car? Well, he did let us take the car, and all we could think of was wow, what a guy and what a relief!
So, for sure we were not “scammed”. And the car still runs fine.
If you have the knowledge to properly inspect a car, or have it inspected (in a foreign Spanish speaking country) to make sure it has not been in any accidents (if that is your criteria) and other such stuff, then good for you. That was not an option for us.
A very reputable lawyer in Panama City told us not to trust the dealerships, there at least.

Smells fishy to me, Walter.
ROTFLMAO! Literally!
In the immortal words of Mike Ehrmentraut, "Walter, shut up."
Another satisfied person here. Go with Keith or Cowboy Dave without apprehension. These guys are honest, efficient, and reliable. End of story.
I didn't remove my post.
Shop around Marlene. You might find a better selection in David or closer to Panama City. If a vehicle has problems sometimes it takes a long time to get them repaired. I found a couple of very good mechanics in David and some good used car dealerships also.
Good LUCK,
Hil Jenkins
I would not trust any used car dealer in either Panama City or David unless I lived there and knew their history. As you live in David, Hilary, maybe you do. But Marlene is looking at Boquete. Panamanians are notoriously hard on their cars and generally defer maintenance until absolutely necessary. Keith and Dave vet this stuff, check cars out--including their lineage. They have a reputation to uphold in this community and thus far, after years, have upheld it. They are a known and highly recommended, and are right here to back up their sales.
