I agree with what everyone has said. As long as you are in good health and do not take what are probably prescription medications in the US, they may not require a prescription here.
Since you are 66, I’m sure you have Medicare that pays for most of your prescriptions (if necessary).
That was the one item that we didn’t consider. My husband takes a few prescriptions and in the US, we paid virtually nothing. Here, it can get expensive.
As long as you don’t have any regular medications you need to take, then you can live fine.
Keith Woolford is a long time resident of Boquete and quite savvy about rules and regs, economics, sources and requirements. I agree with his advice. You can rely on his information.
Just for an example -- I have a one bedroom cozy apartment for rent for $480. This includes CableOnda TV and wi-fi, electricity, gardener, washer, dryer, etc. Fenced and secure yard. 20 minute walk to downtown. Once the Panamonte bridge is finished it will be a 10 minute walk to downtown.
Saludos cordiales.
When you get here check with me, I manage a couple of houses for a friend. They are on a bus line, fully furnished, really nice and, like Keith said, under $900 per month. Message me when you get ready to travel.
