Are there any car rental places in Boquete? I’m arriving at night in David, thinking of taking a taxi over to Boquete, and then renting a car there. Can I do that?

I called a taxi to take me over to Cowboy Dave's. He had another fare to drop off first. Hadn't gone six blocks before he ramed a not in right of way gringo. Decided I had my warning. Sure the driver had no sense of defensive driving, but these taxis are one no personal space group.
I imagine driving here one falls into the same mentality, where inches are as good as yards. Maybe they have a trust that everyone else will yield?
Cowboy Dave’s insurance was included and the price was very reasonable. Cars at David were outrageously priced as noted before. I’ve rented in Coronado before and paid significantly less than prices quoted at the airport places.
Youre also not going to be worried about scratches and dents with Dave’s cars.....they come pre scratched and dented. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from him again.
My wife and I decided to rent at the David airport and drive over. I am told the insurance is almost the same cost as the rental. So for us, 200 total or so for a week
Bob here is our experience with renting at the airport with Thrifty a couple of months ago. We rented the car online and paid the insurance that we were told was needed for a total of around $200. When we got to the rental place it was explained that the insurance we had been told to buy online was of zero use in Panama. The cheapest insurance we could get for our 9 day stay was something over $300, don't remember the exact amount. The only way to get it that cheap was to have a credit card that they could put a $2,000 hold on to cover possible damage. Since no damage was done we had no issues with credit card charges and nothing more was ever charged than what was discussed up front. After some hassle with Expedia we were able to get refunded for the useless insurance costs. Don't think you will find much of a different story with any of the other rental places at the airport.
Thanks Bryan. I certainly hope that isn’t what we experience. We are also renting from thrifty. I may call thrifty and get an idea of the cost. I’m not going until April.
I just got off the phone with Thrifty, the international version, My rental is approx. 123.00 for a week, plus....wait for it......22.00 per day for insurance, and that number quoted to me doesn't include collision. Man, this is going to be expensive! Let me add it all up, so far....277.00, without collision. Where exactly am I renting a car, Daytona International? LOL!

Thanks Bob,
This is exactly the issue I am trying to address. Rental insurance is outrageous.
