Don Ray Williams (former US warden for David) researched all options and ended up shipping stuff through the Panama post office. He said about $50 for a large suitcase. If you go to his blog, Chiriqui Chatter, you can probably find where he wrote about it.
A cheaper alternative is the Panamanian Post Office. Over the years I have never lost anything. My last item, Sony wireless earphones for repair, arrived in Provo, Idaho in 2 weeks.
Specify the service "Recomendado" (Registered). Show them what you are sending, then package it up using a box, construction paper and silicon glue, no tape.

The Boquete P.O. will not accept packages over a certain weight. I think it is 2 kilo. Since Don Ray send a large suitcase, maybe the David P.O. accepts heavier packages.
