so very happy to let you all know Congo was returned in good health by the dognapper, who had him all the time in David. Forever grateful to Javier and Magaly from Radio chiriqui and the Animal Rescue group in David and to Marion and Dottie who took their time to get flyers out there in the strange places I would have never considered and to all who kept hoping with me. A lot of careful detective work was done and on Thursday we got the relieving phone call from Javier and Magaly and the Rescue Group in David that Congo had been located and the napper was willing to hand him over, of course against a very considerable amount!..... Please consider these great people when looking for donations to be given. As a word of caution to all with pets, it does happen that the pets get kidnapped in poorer countries, please let us all who have neighbours with animals be vigilant about each others pets and those living in gated communities to make sure that our neighbours pets wont get the chance to get outside the gates. We should not give these dognappers any chance. I am sure you all know that terrible feeling of not knowing where, how and what and all the ifs.......
Congo is back in his own bed, the bone I had saved all the time in the fridge was finally consumed and all his buddies are so so happy he is back with them!
Thank you again to all who were there for Congo and us!

Bernie, wonderful new for you and Congo but not good news that you needed to pay a ransom. This will happen again, especially when people discover it can be done. I do not know a solution beyond what you suggested but perhaps it would be worth some research as to whether pet napping is illegal?
that is why my underlying message is that we as a community also have to keep an eye out for our neighbors pets, we all have a duty towards our neighbors including their pets. It is horrible it happened and happens but in a country where majority of the people don't have much means these things will happen............my priority was getting Congo alive and safe, I have been to the police in Boquete and David and also to the K-9 police at the airport and the dog training ground in David but non were interested or could not help , sad but true and I did not want anything to happen to the dog, I will forever blame myself that I allowed to dog to walk down in the compound and that he was let out and gone for almost 3 months. If we all watch out for each other (house kids and pets) the culprits will not get a chance and yes, if there are some legal people in our community who can and will find out what the legal procedures are, if any, yes we all should know what to do and where to go......and again help each other
Wonderful news. This is what happens when a community pulls together.
This made me so happy!
I am Very happy!!
It's a terrible pain not knowig what happened to an animal.
That is unbelievable detective work! I'm so happy you got Congo back and that you never gave up. Who would have thought he would ever be found in a place as big as David. Good work!
