Something good is happening.
You know what hurts those new rich in Panama the most? That US revoke the Visa to visit the US. No more Disney World or shopping in Miami. We were waiting for that in Panama. Some key members of the past government have seen their visas revoked.
Now comes to light the corruption on Migracion giving visas to nationals of countries with visa restrictions in Panama. They were charging between $10,000 to $25,000 to citizens from China, India, Haiti and others countries.

Hi Roger,
I guess that many people are dissapointed by Martinelli.
To the bright side, which might change a lot in the future is the affirmation that the presidents of Panama are not covered by an immunity from being member of the Parlacen...This will have a huge impact in how presidential transition will take place in the future.
There is no doubt that the extreme difficult position of the ex-president - now in exile - contributes to the magnitude of the scandals, the whole corruption system has been left unprotected and thus is exploding in day light.

We used to have that law in Panama but Martinelli revoked that law.... you must guess why. Martin Torrijos impulsed that law to protect the people from his political party. The problem is that the new president has not done anything regarding that law. I do agree and we in Panama know that that could be a solution to stop the fear government employees has when a new government start in the country.

Looks like the curse of our country is the politicians and political class. Of course that helped with the center of some economical power.
Since the invasion, we could affirm that corrupt government officials have taken a couple of billions of dollar from our taxes to create new rich people.
That amount of money is large enough to solve some problems in the country and improve the quality of life of a lot of Panamanians but the problem is we left politics to politicians. With Martinelli we thought that we were giving a businessman the chance to change things in this country..... and he succeeded by showing us how the greed and hunger for money made them to be more successful in corruption acts than any other previous government.
The problem is and probably will be that we don't have any other good choice. We have to vote for the less worst people not for the best people.
I am confident that we will overcome this frustration and will learn for the future.

For me this is unbelievable. I voted for Martinelli because I believed in his speech. A businessman with no political background and malpractices but reality is other. Dark and rotten. They did a lot of projects just as a way to get more money on kickbacks and corruption acts.
People in Panama is tired, disappointed and is learning. Varela's people better be on a straight line or hide better their corruption acts because people will ask for their heads when their term ends.
Question.....Does this happen every 5 years, when there is a change in office? I assume every new admin inadvertently finds things that may not have been handled correctly and needs to address issues, change things etc. This is much, much more than that.
Well. Something like that but this time this was worst. In my life I have never seen something like that. Even in the darkest time of the Military Dictatorship.
