Requests for new Resident ID numbers and Recovering a Resident ID Number are running high right now.

We usually say that within 3 days Rodny will have these requests processed but we may need to add another day or two because of the demand.

Also if you registered for a Resident ID before the website and the online system, PLEASE use this form to update your information.

Are these documents accepted by the local law as valid? Or do you still have to carry a passport?

The information provided to the Resident ID database is private and is not provided to any outside agency. It exists solely to assist in the event that you have an emergency. 

Unless you have a permanent residence visa or a cedula, yes, you need your passport.
