I have three dogs (125, 80 and 15 pounds) and we used to buy the Adult Kirkland Member Selection at Pricesmart but Pricesmart has discontinued selling Adult Kirkland brand dog food. We were very happy with the Kirkland brand. Thinking that the new Pricesmart Member Selection dog food was similar in quality we started buying that brand. We believe we made a mistake as we discovered that there is a fishy smell to the Pricesmart brand dog food and the quality doesn't appear to be the same as the Kirkland brand.
Can anyone recommend what dog food they are currently buying? What brand would be recommended?
Any info would be appreciated.

Just got back from PriceSmart and lo and behold they had the Kirkland brand Adult dog food. We purchased three big bags and one small puppy bag, it should last us for a while. Wonders never cease!!!
Want to thank the other posters for their advice.
i bought a bag of the Mimada and see that corn is the first ingredient listed. Also the kibble is very small...you could feed it to a teacup sized dog. It does not encourage chewing as far as I can see. I was unable to go to Pricemart so got this as a fill in, mixed with the regular food.
I have had really good results with the Member's Selection Fun and Faithful. I have a dog with a sensitive digestion system and he looks beautiful and has wonderful energy. The ingredients include fish oil and salmon, which may be contributing to the fishy smell.
I hope for the day when a reliable quality dog food is available in Boquete. It is so tiresome to go to Pricemart and see only empty shelves.
There are some high quality foods at Mascotas but at $88 for a 30 lb. bag it's not affordable for us.
I agree with Claire and Evelyn about Mimada and Ascan being low quality foods. I believe they are both put out by chicken producers in Costa Rica.
We alternate Mimada and Ascan. We have 3 dogs and the one of 17 years old is doing very well.
Always check the ingredients. I don't know about Mimanda, but Ascan's first ingredient is corn--much like many of the dog goods except Kirkland (and Member's Select, which DOES smell like rotting fish). Corn is cheap, but is often an allergen to dogs. A good site is dogfoodadvisor.com. Ascan is not rated because it is not made in the US.
Melo has a good food called Mimada. Comes in a 50lb bag for a comparable price to Price Smart
Thank you Nathan, good advice. Will have to check that out.
