Hello Everyone,
I have been advised that I need to find an Endocrinologist, and Dr Espino from Hospital Chriqui has been recommended to me.
I was wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience with Dr Espino? Would you recommend him?? Does he speak English? (Before you jump down my Throat JC.. I do speak fluent Spanish, but when it comes to Medical Issues, I do like to be able to speak to the Dr in English to make sure I am understanding completely whats being said to me).
Thanks for any help!

Can anyone help?
Did you see the Doctor? What do you think of him? I have also been referred to him, and would love to hear of your experience.
Hi Nina,
Weirdly enough! I just went to see him for the fist time this morning!. My appointment was for 10am and I nearly fell over backwards when he arrived in his office at 9.45am and I was the first to see him at 9.50am! A complete first for me to be seen by a Doctor in Panama actually at the right time!!
He is a very personable Doctor and I like him very much. He doesn't speak much English, not that I need him to as I speak Spanish, but he does try the odd word in English!
He was extremely professional and took the time to listen to my symptoms and give me his opinion, I didn't feel rushed, which was also nice!
His office number is 774-0128 extn 2055. First appointment is $50 and follow ups are $40. He works from 10am -12am and 2pm onwards.
Completely recommend you going to see him!
Oh, darn! My medical Spanish sucks! The receptionist said he spoke enough English that I didn't need a translator. Is that not true?
I think that you should be ok, he said he speaks English, just need to talk slowly!
If you are worried, maybe take a friend with you who speaks spanish for the first consultation until you get to judge for yourself if you need a translator.. would be a shame to spend $50 and not understand whats going on!..
Bit of advice... try to get early appointments, Dr's in Panama seem to get later and later as the day goes on, I may have been lucky today as my appointment was the first of the day.
Good Luck - Hope it goes well xx
I normally do that. I have 3 doctors to see that day. I just looked at my list And Espino is my first at 9:30am. I understand Spanish well and can speak it okay. But medical terms trip me up. I will be okay!
I have never seen a doctor at my appointed time! And I have, unfortunately, seen way too many doctors. Surgeons are the worst! I have had 6 surgeries in 6 years....they give all of their follow-up patients the SAME time. Then it is first come first serve. Even when I come early, other patients are even earlier. At a time when you can hardly stand or sit, you are stuck in a waiting room for a minimum of 1.5 hours. I have had to wait as long as 3 hours. Until I finally told them I didn't care but I was not waiting any longer and left. The surgeon called me at home and told me I MUST be seen. I told him ONLY if he saw me at an appointed time. I was not going to wait. So he set up a time and was only 20 minutes late. lol
I have 2 pm appointment, so maybe he will be my first doctor on-time!
