This may just be first-timer excitement but, in case all you seasoned birders are unaware...for the past couple of days, over Alto Qiel, Los Naranjos and El Salto, 4-8 Sallow-tailed kites have been putting on shows worthy of The Blue Angels. If there's any pattern, it starts over the valley below Sitton and they swoop up from there and then down over Naranjos and back, doing barrel-rolls, flying in tandem and then around 9AM or so they come over this way, over El Salto. Just thought I'd post this because it's a wonderful sight to see

Well, serious watching for two days was rewarded by the aerobatics of this Swallow-tailed Kite, video'd from our terrace on El Salto

I'm in Arizona and spent last weekend with birders who are recording the migration of seasonal birds in our bosques and streams on their way back to you in the tropics.
If you take video footage of your kites doing their aerial stunts, I would appreciate a link.
And as aside, as I kid, I spent many an afternoon watching the Blue Angels. That's the sound of freedom!
If the kites grace us with a show tomorrow we will video, Jet, our US home is Beaufort SC and the Golden Eagles appear there every couple of years. As you know the sign at the entry to MCAS Beaufort says "The noise you hear is the sound of freedom"
