Golden Chinese restaurant in Alto Dorado

We went to newly reopened Chinese restaurant in the Alto Dorado store front, and it was quite a treat.The restaurant is beautiful, and has an extensive menu of chinese dishes, as well as other foods. The service was great, and there were several who came in for take out orders as we enjoyed our dishes. The portions are huge, as we had vegetable fried rice and vegetable chow mein, each were 6 dollars, and we had to take most of it home and eat on it for two more days. I also had the 5 dollar combo plate of sweet and sour pork, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, with all the beautiful tables and decorations, we were the only ones enjoying the cooked to order food on a Friday evening. Give it a try before taking a long trip to David. You will be pleasantly surprised!

We also had the "burnt rice".  Yummy!  Burn my rice once, shame on you...burn my rice twice...you catch my drift.  One word, AVOID! When I complained she smiled and handed me our bill...lol

The whole point of going was to support the new owners but all 4 of us left most of the food on our plates. It was that terrible. The second visit we all asked for the wonderful cashew chicken that we had first visit. What we got was broccoli with slivered almonds. HOT tea should be a no brainier. We initially loved it and now so disappointed. But we remain hopeful that it will improve. Sounds like it is hit and miss.

Restaurants are always difficult, new ones especially so. Turnover of employees is high and it is hard to judge how much food to prepare so you end up with leftovers. You can expect food and service to be erratic but if you don't support it you can expect it to disappear. This is true of all businesses in Boquete. People go to David because they can't get what they want in Boquete, hence , they will never be able to get what they want in Boquete. Support our local businesses and they will grow and get better like Ivan did.

Wow, I hope the ownership reads this and makes note of these remarks. Otherwise, they won't be there very long. Sorry to hear this. I guess I was lucky the first time.

We went there last Tuesday for lunch and both of us got a combo plate. Well, the fried rice tasted burned and was awful, the salad was shredded lettuce with a tomato slice and no dressing, the pork and chicken were tough, and the wonton was blah.  We got bottled Lipton iced tea. Did not enjoy and we won't be going back.

We just gave it our 4th and last try unless something changes. First visit was wonderful. The next two visits we didn't get what we ordered and after several tries finally an admission they don't serve ice tea. Tonight not one of our meals was edible all served with Luke warm tea. We had high hopes and would have paid the ever increasing prices if the quality of the first visit had continued.

We have eaten their several times recently, and agree it is quite good, and plentiful.
