It is NOT catastrophic insurance. The maximum payout is too low. It is my view that regular doctor visits and procedures are so inexpensive as to be affordable by most. It is catastrophic insurance that is needed as hospital stays of more than a few days can cost more than the HC plan will pay, leaving the patient with a debt of thousands of dollars or transference to Hospital Regional. Catastrophic insurance is expensive but, if you can afford it, worth it for peace of mind.
