About Us
Hi, we are Ged and Laraine from Oxford in the UK.We are in our late 50s and have just become " senior backpackers "We have recently taken early retirement and are working our way around the world volunteering in worthwhile causes, house and pet sitting, and getting involved with local projects in various countries.We like to keep active and do not want to laze about all day.We love the early morning sunrise and would like to take our pets for the first walk of the day in nature rather than tarmac or pavement, we believe this is good grounding for all souls, human and animal to start any day. Ged was a carpenter and an award winning Construction Site Manager in the UK, he is great organiser and plannerLaraine was an Accommodation Manager for Oxford University.We are both very young at heart, we are fit and active, apart from carrying a few extra pounds! we take no medication, are non smokers, but we do enjoy an odd glass of fine wine of an evening.Over the years we have had several of our own pets including Dogs, Cats, Chinchillas, Parrots and Cockatoos, we enjoy the exchange of love and care from our animals.We recently helped out for 3 months on an expedition ship moored in Ensenada Mexico, where we helped the owners refurbish their beautiful 180' craft, the owners felt comfortable enough with us to leave us in charge for 6 weeks while they took a vacation.We are currently undertaking a couple of workaway projects in Costa Rica and Panama where Ged was making furniture for jungle cabins and I was taking care of the guests that arrived in Bocas del Toro. What fun it was to be visited every day by Howler monkeys, Sloths, Toucans and Parrots.In our down time we liked to swim and snorkel everyday.We also managed a back packers hostel in Chitre which was great fun mixing with lots of people from all over the world that were our sons age - it keeps us in touch with the younger vibe. : )We are completely trustworthy, reliable and honest. We consider ourselves a couple of the greatest integrity and always go the extra mile for our hosts and employers, who always wind up becoming our friends. Should you require us to house or pet sit for you and you would like any small maintenance task or small build project carried out during your absence, as long as materials are supplied and tools are available we would not have a problem undertaking small jobs at no cost

Why we want to house sit
In between our travelling adventures and workaway projects which can prove to be intense.For us to spend some of our time house/pet sitting we believe it will bring a better balance into our lives. It should afford us some relaxation in the evenings in a home environment where it will be easier to catch up on some emails family contact and some quality time with each other while planning the next stage of our lives.House sitting could potentially take us to some places where we would otherwise never get to visit which fits in well with our rather loose agenda.This would also afford us the time to supply lots of time,attention, and affection to our non human charges, it would be a symbiotic relationship where the pets in our care get as much out of the new relationship as we would.Our hosts should also benefit from our skills and care of their property as we are both a touch OCD in cleanliness, and order. In answer to the question "why do we want to house sit", (should we dare mention that its cheaper than air bnb or booking dot.com or any other hotel. ) Therefore we promise our potential host that should you choose us to housesit we will take the greatest care of your property, and will willingly include any reasonable request for gardening/yard work and cleaning, or any other request you may need to be undertaken as mentioned earlier on our page.
