Does anyone have any information on having a cremation done in the Boquete/David area? What steps have to be taken for a deceased (USA citizen)? What funeral companies etc. to contact? Thanks - TERRY B.

Terry,
Here's an older post that describes another option such as burial at sea.

Here is an article posted by Don Ray Williams on his Chiriqui Chatter blog in 2012. Things change so some of this information could be stale. As advised by Judy Sacco check with Boquete Hospice .

These figures are out of date. Slightly over a year ago, the transportation of the body to PC for cremation cost $600, the cremation itself was $1100, and the funeral home charged $175, for a total of $1875.
Thank you for the information ... Terry
Re: Certificado de defuncion
I went to Tribunal once years ago. You will need the legal size, hand written death certificate by the doctor who pronounced death. Parents' names of the deceased. Disposition of the body. At that time a copy cost $3. You will need extra copies for the Embassy and so forth.
It cost me about $1600 for that service 16 mos. ago at the funeral home Retiro in David. Part of the service was obtaining the death certificates from the Tribunal.
Why would the body have to go to Panama City? Don't they have facilities in David that can do it?
Thank you for the information ... Terry
Please go to Boquete Hospice website. All of that is spelled out. Also be on the lookout for the next Hospice "Being Prepared" talk at the Tues. meeting at BCP. This is information everybody needs to know.
