Irene is a little better today. They have extubated her -- the tube down her throat to help her breathe has been removed. She has an oxygen mask providing her with moist oxygen. The moisture helps "thin" the congestion still in her lungs. Her bed is currently vibrating, which also helps loosen the congestion. She is not yet talking, which is to be expected, as I'm sure she has a VERY sore throat. The nurse told me that Irene may be moved into a "regular" room in about 3 days if she continues to make progress.
The necessary payment to the hospital has been made, thanks to all of you!
On a personal note, I cannot thank you all enough for the hugs and encouragement you've given me. Your timing has always been perfect -- just when I've needed a hug or a kind word, you've been there.

This is such good news. And a special thanks to you and Gail for being so supportive.
