I was able to slip in and see Irene early today (it pays to be a nurse!). The head of her bed is raised to about 80 degrees -- almost to a full sitting angle. She is still on the humidified oxygen and still has the tube through which she is getting nourishment. The bed is no longer vibrating, which is a good sign, and she is managing to cough a little bit, which is also a good sign. She is still not able to talk, which is normal after being on the ventilator. Her vital signs -- pulse, breathing rate, blood pressure -- are stable and good. Her red blood cells are carrying 100% of the oxygen her body needs.
I even got a smile out of her when I mentioned that the yarn that Tom McCormack has in his container will probably be in my living room in a few days, making the room look like a warehouse!
She is still quite weak, and she is still quite sick. But she is making progress poco a poco. And she knows that we all love her and are pulling for her.

Could you possibly tell her for us that Dave and Leiann from the foundation for persons with disabilities (fudacion para personas con disabiladad)(or close) say hi, we are praying for her and that we look forward to seeing her in November and plan to again voluteer there. Thanks
Hi Brandy, been following this from the States. Really appreciate all your thoughtful updates. Send my love to Irene next you see her? Hugs, Sonia
