During Carnavales next week, will PriceSmart still open? Is it just banks and offices which close?

If you leave in the morning you will be allright. They run one parade at night called La Reina de Carnivale.

In answer to your question PriceSmart will be open.  I have lived here for 13 years and the highway does not shut down . The most you will see is maybe a checkpoint on the highway in Dolega, but usually they just wave you through. Dont let people scare you into not moving around.

I've lived here 11 years and have gotten tangled up in Dolega twice during Carnivale, albeit seven or eight years ago. Maybe the authorities now have the problem under control. There is, however, another reason not to drive around more than necessary during Carnivale: drunken drivers. Traffic fatalities spike during this party time.

Yes, they run at least one of the parades through the main drag of Dolega during Carnival.

Dolega essentially closes down the highway during Carnivale. Pricesmart may be open, but getting there will be problematical. Long timers know that these are days to stay in Boquete if at all possible.
