I just heard from a friend who is an attorney that Panama passed a law yesterday that allows those nationalities outlined in bill 591 to obtain a residency status without using a lawyer that only costs $569 dollars. Has anyone else heard about this?

Does anyone know at what point in the process of obtaining a residency visa one becomes eligible for a temporary visa?
Keep in mind I did this years ago. My attorney filed my app, a week later, I went with her to get my temp card, which was good for a year. She called me back to PTY about 8 months later and I got my permanent card. And, when I received the temp card, she used it to apply for my Work Permit. That card took about 6 months. After I had my permanent residency card for a year, I applied and got my Cedula.
You are given the temp carnet the same day you turn in your paper work in David at immigration. That is the normal route for Pensionado. I don't know about the others.
The person giving you the affidavit must have the means, the applicant can have an account anywhere
I was up at the border today for various reasons and I checked in with Immigration to ask them to clarify the situation, and the only thing he could really tell me is that you have to stay out 30 days......But he did mention flying but did not elaborate why it would be better......Did not suggest that if you fly you only have to stay out 2 weeks........But interesting! Looks like theyre easing up on most nationalities.........How do you schedule the appt after filling out the online app? I did it and assumed they would be contacting me for the appt.........So I guess I start over...........
You would think that they would make it quite obvious and clear on the website when you sign up as to how to get an appointment. Just the fact that it is not readily apparent makes you wonder if it is still in the "information gathering" phase, or if they are truly giving out appointments...
When you fill in the form and submit it, it gives you a confirmation # and you print that out, then it tells you that once they verify the information, they will contact you for an appointment
You have to read the instructions and fill in all 3 tabs of the form, they will ask you for your passport, your country of origin's address, your address in PTY, the name and phone number of the person responsible for you or your affiant, your mother and father's name, all your passport info it's not too extensive, and you do get a barcode page to have with you
Okay, so that seems to be what people are wondering, you wait for them to contact you.
I dont have a printer so I sent the link to my friend and myself and then clicked on it and it came out NOT TO BE FOUND......haha.........this is gettin more fun.....
