Our plates are coming up for renewal in August. We have never done this before. Can we do it on our own or is it better to hire somebody to do it. The plates were issued in Coronado but now of course we live in Alto Boquete. Any advice. My Spanish is fair but not fluent yet.

I did the inspection at the tire shop along side Los Establos. Dolega is not a problem.
Thanks Robert, the inspection has been done here in Puerto. Just need to get plate/sticker and transfer from Panama City to Chiriqui. People here in Puerto tell us we have to go all the way to Panama City to get a plate/sticker. I had just seen that old post about Dolega and wanted to make sure we could do it there.
We are moving to Boquete this coming weekend.
Make sure that your PC license and insurance are in order and valid. There is a 24/7 police check at Cadera.
Thank you Robert.
Hi Steve and Cathy, we are in a similar position re car plates. Our car came from Panama so we are being told we have to go back to Panama to get the new sticker. Were you able to get yours in Dolega?
thanks
Beverley
Go see Franky at Value Motors car lot, he'll take care of it for a small fee of $20. We just renewed ours last week, it took a week for the plates to arrive from Panama City. The inspection was done at the tire shop across Los Establos in Boquete
I posted something to the matter not too long ago
This post is old, but you can still do it, and yes, you have to go back to Panama, if you do it during the month of renewal you can request a transfer to Dolega and change them there permanently.
The entire process has been posted
Good Morning Bill, no I didn't notice the date. My husband pointed it out to me after I asked my question. But I still have the same question. We are in Puerto Armuelles and we have to get a cab up to Dolega and I want to make sure we can still get the plate/sticker so we don't have to go to Panama City. My experience so far has been that so called policies can change overnight.
Take a taxi to Dolega. Ask them what to do. In my opinion you have to renew the plate in PC first. If that is the case you could contact Golden Frog in PC. Mr. José Saenz (fluent English) just Google for e-mail phone etc. He helped us also to get our dogs into the country.
