Does the copay system at hc cover prescription costs? how much of them? trying to figure out if I should keep my own medical from here as it's very expensive and I wouldn't have much pension left.

Check out other international insurance options. Hosp. Chiriqui insurance is more like a discount plan. It doesn't cover a lot, and if you have a pre-existing condition, they will make you wait 2 years before that condition is covered, though you have to pay for the insurance for those 2 years. Do a search for Bupa. It might suit you better.
If you have a lot of medical issues, re-evaluate if you should even move here. Even getting an ambulance in a hurry can be difficult.
Here are some benifits for the insurance MS Panama. And, they are not affiliated with Hospital Chiriqui. I got these yesterday from the MS office manager. This should clear up some misinformation.

Where do we get more information on this? Have you collected on their insurance? Are they good to work with?
Sorry, the answer is "no". It also doesn't cover dental or anything considered a prosthetic such as titanium installations in the spine.
Herta
Or hip, knee replacement or pace maker. Nothing IN the body.
Hip and Knees are covered up to 70% (of eligible expenses. what ever that is) but there is a three year waiting period. I find that kind of odd. The medical exam prior to getting insurance should take care of that but this TIP.
Joanne,
The PDF file is attached with all the information. It is a current document. I was visiting the eye Dr in the hospital and dropped over and picked up a Copy. The Office manager's name is Mellisa. Scroll down and you'll see the PDF file Joanne.

Thanks Hil, I did see that but it's not very specific. It is listed under hip and knee "surgery" but does not specify if the hardware is included in that. Of course that's after you've been paying premiums for more than 3 years.
I've already had my hip replaced so no worries. lol Was just curious as there seemed to be some confusion as to whether the "hardware" was covered.
