From experience we can tell you that it is very busy office, you MUST be able to communicate clearly in Spanish, we had a representative from our attorney's office with us and we just sat there as she spent several hours going back and forth to the various personnel with many documents and many copies of the documents and got many signatures and she navigated that circus for us. Nice people overall but very hectic. Plus you are signing forms in Spanish and she explained them to us.

1. You have started the process for a permanent residency and you passport is stamped by immigration
2. Have not yet received your permanent VISA
It is only for the limbo period.
You do not need an attorney but knowing how to speak Spanish is very helpful.
