I am looking for a National Park, road trip, even a private 'zoo' if need be (no cages) where I can take my son to see monkeys, etc. I'm in David, but will drive three or four hours if I have to. I was looking at the Bocas del Toro region up past volcan but can't figure out what might be up there, as far as any national parks, etc. Just looking for a day trip, even if it a lot of travel for one day.
Bascially want to acheive two things:
1.) Take an easy hike through jungle (that a two year old can be carried on, but is still a full forest)
2.) See monkeys, sloths, etc.
Thanks

Thanks for everyones replies. The sanctuary does not allow children under ten years old, aparrently there was some problems with younger ones.
We finally decided on staying at Hotel Boca Brava on Isla Boca Brava. Good suggestion, saw howler monkeys up close, the beaches were decent, the food is decent and the price was affordable. Plus there are some trails to hike on, on the island that are easy/moderate which is about as far as our son can handle. Worked out great, great little trip, highly recommnend for the budget concious traveler.
Thanks again.
Wow!! I just checked out the website and this place looks great!! I'm totally going there on my next visit!! Thanks Walter for this info!! :))
That is true. I have made several trips there and have never been disappointed. And Frank is a consummate host.
I tried to call
We actually saw about 15 Howler monkeys on Boca Brava and there is a trail that isn't that hard. You can go as far as you want or just a short way. Early mornings or later afternoons are better for the monkeys. No sloths however. We were there in March. There is also the Hostel/Hotel at Boca Brava that is fairly inexpensive and the food we had there was great.
Lots of Howler and a few white-face monkeys here: http://www.bocachicaplantationclub.com/
Too far but thanks.
