As I read the ad, the 2017 refers to the celebration, not the date. But you're right: it really doesn't merit remarking on as I doubt that anyone was confused. I apologize.
What's with the all caps? Isn't that the equivalent of shouting in Internet etiquette?
AMANDA, THERE ARE PEOPLE SUCH AS I, THAT SUFFER FROM AMD (AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION) AND OTHER EYE MEDICAL PROBLEMS, THAT HAVE DIFFICULTY SEEING WHAT THEY TYPE IF NOT IN CAPS. I DO NOT KNOW IF HIL SUFFERS FROM ANY EYE MEDICAL PROBLEMS BUT THIS IS JUST INFO SO YOU AND OTHERS MAY UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES THERE IS A REASON FOR TYPING IN CAPS.
I'm afraid 2017 already has been celebrated on December 31st of last year, and this seems a little early for 2018.
