No Internet for almost 1 week

Hi. I've decided to change my internet service provider and wanted to see if anyone has any specific recommendation.

I currently have 512kb ADSL with Cable & Wireless and it has been down since last Thursday. We've called support people almost every day since and at the beginning they said it would take 48 - 72 hours. After that time frame passed they've said: tomorrow (mañana), but several "mañanas" have come and go and still no Internet... so I think it's time change our ISP (Internet Service Provider).

It has been down in the past and they have always fixed the problem in there 48 - 72 hour time frame... until now, so I'm hoping there is an ISP out there where downtime is only a matter of minutes our hours as opposed to days (or maybe weeks) and that take care of their thing when it's down. I mean... where talking about a company that makes millions of dollars in profit and they leave you without service for almost a week. I don't think it's fair...

Any suggestions for a new ISP in Boquete, Panama?

I've just switched from CableOnda to MobilNet, with high hopes for more consistent service. CableOnda wasn't down for as long as a week (I had it for more than a year) but OFTEN was extremely slow... much slower than I was paying for.

We've had good luck with Mobilnet; they were even up right after the flood last November. That said, they have been down twice for a couple of days during the last month. Service, however, is better than I've come to expact in Panama. I once called when I couldn't get online and they fixed the problem remotely while I was one the phone.

Internet is back! It was 7 days in total... definitively changing my ISP so thank you to those who have sent info about their experience with other companies and I would really appreciate if anybody else would send info about which companies have or haven't worked for them

Cable & Wireless 7 days downtime... that has to be a record!

I need to add a accolade to Pananix. I have had good solid service since moving back from Alto Boquete. While there we were on a very slow connection from Cable Onda. Not good at all.

MobileNet seems to provide good download and upload speed BUT now my web pages are loading slower than ever. I've tried Firefox, Internet Explorer and Chrome... all with the same slow SLOW loading. Cookies are set OK, everything else I know about is set for optimum webpage loading.

The only thing I haven't tried is a proxie. Is anyone using one here that is safe and reliable? Does anyone have any other suggestions for this problem?

Internet activity regarding Michael Jackson is slowing down everybody everywhere. There is a huge upsurge in internet traffic right now. Google even shut down their news site briefly, because they thought there was an internet attack.

My problem began before Jackson died. I have just discovered that a virus (V6000) was added to my computer files sometime in March. My virus protection software (Avast) did not find it and only when I changed to Panda Cloud was the virus located... and removed. Panda had instructions for removing the file and immunizing for the future. I'm impressed with Panda!
