Does anyone know if there is a US Notary Public between here and David ? ( I hope no one replies telling me to go the Embassy in PTY - thanks in advance ! )

Yes, the need is for FL agency. It was good to hear that a Panamanian Notary was acceptable for that FL agency. I have already used my 1-time remote renewal option for my DL, I think the next time they will want me to come in. My DL picture is of a young man, lol.
I used a Panamanian Notary in David to renew my Florida Drives License by mail in the USA. No questions ask in David---Notorized. Worked great with the State Of Florida.
Olga is right, there is no U.S. notary in Panama except the embassy. Many people (myself included) have had documents notarized at the municipio in Boquete. The notarization was accepted in the U.S. Ask whoever you are having it notarized for.
Jack, the municipio is the big building across from Romero where the mayor and post office are. The notary is in the corner office, looking left from Romero. I thin it says Secretary on the door. There is a small waiting area outside the door and a courtroom across from this office.
As a US Notary Public (Florida), I wish I could tell you it is possible to get your documents notarized, however, it is not legal in the US nor in Panama.
Sorry, but yes, for your notarized paper to be legal, it has to be done at the US Embassy or when they come to Chiriqui.
By law, a Notary Public must notarize documents ONLY in the State in which they are authorized to do so, and the stamp is NOT valid if done outside of the US. A friend of yours may risk it and stamp them for you, but to publicly ask someone to break US laws is kind of hard.
I agree that paying $50 per stamp is ridiculous. So if you are 100% opposed to going to the Embassy, ask a friend from your State. Remember, if I am a Florida Notary and you are from NY, even if we are friends, I have to notarize saying you were in X County in Florida.......

Use a reputable Panamanian for the Notary. Florida will accept it.

Why do you need a US notary public? Why wouldn't a Panamanian notary be better?
