Panama Among the Worst Countries to Drive
The results of the Global Index of Driver Satisfaction, developed by Waze, confirmed what everyone already knew, that Panamanian drivers are among the most dissatisfied in the world.
The report shows a table with the countries that offer the best and worst management experiences in the world, 10 being the best evaluation and 1 the worst. To do this, they analyzed six factors:
- level of traffic (frequency and severity of blockages)
- quality of road infrastructure
- driver safety (accident frequency)
- dangers
- weather conditions
- services available
Holland proved to be the country most pleasant for drivers achieving a score of 7.9 , while that El Salvador was the worst with 2.1 , however Panama was very close, with a 3.8 .
The results of this study were based on information from 50 million users in 32 countries.
Waze is an application of traffic and navigation, which obtains data and real-time evaluations from the community of drivers who use it.
In Panama City, where traffic jams are one a major problem, thousands use Waze to find the least congested routes, especially during peak hours.

I do not see Nigeria on the list. I worked there 2 years. What about the mayor cities of India or the capital of Vietnam.
Ya got to be kidding me, Costa Rica better to drive in than Panama, NO WAY!!! I lived in Costa Rica from 1995 till 1999 when I came here. I lived in the capital, San Jose. The country was riddled with potholes, so much so, I wouldn't own a car, I traveled all over by bus. The Taxi drivers were the worst and would try to hit you while crossing the street. I will say, the Bus system was pretty good.

Something we emphatically agree on, Patrick. Absolutely brutal and from what I understand, it's only gotten worse.
We lived in the central valley from 1994-2004, and I drove around the metropolitan San Jose area on a daily basis for business.
Near the end it got so stressful I was paying a local pirata to be my driver.
I think most of the Panamanian complainants are from folks stuck in the thrice daily tranques of the Capital.
Driving in Panama is like driving in Rome.
