Those of us that have Panamanian driver licenses need to get them renewed on an annual basis. So every month about 8% of us with Panamanian licenses need to make the trek to David and renew.
Is there interest in establishing a scheduled trip so that a bunch of us can go together each month?
Reply back here if you would be interested in participating in a coordinated trip to the Driver License station in David.

Thanks, All, for the input. I was still in that Temporary Resident situation, so that's why mine was good for only 1 year.
Looks like I'll be traveling solo to David for a Driver License test (8-b
At least I won't be doing it as often as I thought.
If you have obtained your residency you will not have to take a test for a 4yr license. Just exchange your one year license for a 4 yr license. You will have to do the hearing and eye test. I'm sure you can NOT renew the one year license for another one year license. The temporary license is issued with your temporary pensionando while the appliction for permenant status is sent to Panama City for approval or denial. Your original statement about renewing every year is incorrect.
The last time I was at the drivers license place, most of the staff spoke English.
Temporary resisdent visa's in the past were valid for 1 year and so was the DL's, once you are a permanent resisdent you got the 4 year DL. The DL is renewed on the anniversary date it was issued.
Panamanian DL are good for 4 years or at lease mine is. What type of requirement do you have that mandates annual renewal?
under 70 is for 4 years over 70 is for 2 years
Agreed Glen, my wife and I just renewed last month for 4 years and was not in there longer than 1 hour.
My observation is that the wait can be very long. And with multiple people involved, it would be longer. What you might save in gas would be lost in time expended.
A valid point. Was just thinking that 3 or 4 of us could enjoy the trip down and not be so intimidated by the language barrier. I agree that a group which is too large would be counterproductive.
