Hello everyone
we are in process of visiting long term to Panama, and bringing our pet. The cost and red tape aside in Canada, does anyone or has anyone had difficulties on the way back with their pet to Canada?? We will be flying David to Toronto.
Thanks for your replies.

Dear Howling Success
love that name
we are going through all the paperwork and cost now here in Canada and are flying air Canada to p.c. but will the local vets in Boquete know what to do to take her back? or should I go to David to Happy Pet. Also is the cost crazy money like to get her to Panama?
We have brought our dog in twice and back to the States once. Peace of cake on the way back... It was the paperwork and time constraints on the way in that wasn't fun. To get her back, I went to a vet, he did a checkup and all 3 stamps needed, some paperwork, and that was basically it. Getting her to the cargo area in Panama City was the last step.
You have to have a health certificate and an export permit to take your pet out of Panama. The local vets can get the paperwork. I don't know how long you will be staying in Panama, but the expense and paperwork required both to bring the pet in and take it back out, and the tight time limits both ways, make it not worth bringing your pet if it is not a permanent move. Search this forum. There is a lot of information about bringing in and taking out pets.
I have never taken the plane from David to Tocumen, but not all plane are equipped to transport pets, so you might check that aspect, and maybe should think to get to PTY by car.
7 years ago, I had no problem bringing my dog to Panama, there were means to get over the "normal procedure", and basically my dog was the first of us to enter the country.
There are paper works to be done, that is for sure. The rest will depend on Canada.
