To Gordon Bakke or others in the Volcal pickleball group: Will you be playing on Tuesday, Mar. 5? A group from Boquete is going to Volcan for an overnight stay that day before embarking on the Los Quetzales trail hike the next morning. If you are playing we would like to join in, if we may. We would have 2 - 4 players.
Thanks.

Nice. You just lost a possible new player with your wisecrack response.
Mike, its a racquet sport kind of like mini-tennis. Played with paddles slightly larger that ping pong size, and on a court that is roughly the same size as that for badminton. The balls used are whiffleballs. Even though the sport was invented up in my old neck of the woods, I never played until we moved to Panama. Actually a pretty great sport - plenty of youtube video available online.
And it is 50 years old this year. Hard to believe how it has been hidden for all these years. More fun than tennis and great social sport!
Hey Warren! I will bring my gear and a portable net if needed when I arrive later this year. Do you have a facility in Boquete we can rent? Thanks-Ric
What is the latest information on pickleball in Volcan?.....
Tuesdays & Fridays, 2:00 P.M. at the Lion's Club in Volcan. Racquets available for use, if you don't have one. We usually pay $2 each to use the Lion's Club. We could use some new players, as we are down to 4 or 5.
BTW, below is a link to an article entitled "A Pickleball Pitstop in Panama" from a USPA newsletter several years back that talks about our litle group here:

Okay, I'll bite. What in the world is Pickleball?
