Am I the only one who wants to throw away my computer and rush to David's new Mac store to buy one with the old Yosemite operating system? I'd really love to know if I'm alone in the nightmare, or if anyone else is suffering or has found fixes. Please contact chiriquiwoman@gmail.com

Apple releases OS X 10.11.2 El Capitan update.
Apple on Tuesday released a completed OS X 10.11.2 update for El Capitan, dealing with a slate of bugs in the operating system. It addresses the "stability, compatibility, and security" of Macs, according to Apple. Specifically, release notes mention the following changes:
Please note that it is always recommended to use a combo update to update OS X.
Many of the problems we are asked to solve can be traced back to a faulty system update or corrupt system files. While it may sound pretty serious there is usually a very simple way to fix it, reinstall the latest Combo update from Apple.
When Apple is testing OS X updates with its developers they are using the Combo update, which is a package that contains every single update from the day your OS X version was released. However, what they deliver to the end users is normally an incremental update which only contains the changes from say 10.11.1 to 10.11.2. Unless you have a clean install there is a chance that it will replace files it shouldn’t or, on the contrary, that it won’t replace files that have become corrupted and are now causing problems.
The best thing to do if you happen to experience these problems is to reinstall the update, but instead of using the Mac App Store which will only give you the incremental update you use the Combo update. The Combo update will replace all the core system files and give you a completely fresh and up to date OS X install that will hopefully make your problems history.
This is also how you fix your computer if an update was interrupted as the Combo update will restore all missing files and make sure they are up to date.
You can download the OS X 10.11.2 El Capitam Combo Update from https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1850.
OK, I just loaded 10.11.2 and am ready to Restart. Although none of the fixes in the list have anything to do with the problem I'm having but Oh Well. At this point I will try anything.

Great advice Ron, thanks.
it would help if you mentioned what exactly you are suffering from? And, what you need fixes for?
Some things..
* I create 2 new mailboxes and then they disappeared. I recreated them and all the emails I had placed in them were there in the recreated versions. This has happened several times. Just the new mailboxes created since I upgraded to El Capitan.
* I will click on a message in my Inbox and nothing happens. It freezes...can't click on anything when it does. Must restart Mail to get it active again.
Non-Mail issues
* Newly created Word and PowerPoint documents are not appearing in the Open Recent dropdown the way they used to.
* I don't ever recall seeing a spinning color wheel before, and now it appears all the time. Everything is VERY slow in El Capitan.
I HATE EL CAPITAN....
Penny,
What version of el Cap are you using? There were some Mail problems which have been resolved with 10.11.1.
Word and Powerpoint are Microsoft products. If they don't work, call their tech support. Ha ha.
You need to immediately if not sooner make a clone backup of your HD, so your files will be protected. Run disk utility to see if there is a problem with your files.
There might have been a problem with your system which only became evident with the upgrade. As a next step, start up from your clone backup, erase your HD and do a clean install of el Cap. Then use Migration Assistant to import your files from the backup.
For the record, I have installed el Cap on four computers. Only one had a problem with Mail, which was resolved with 10.11.1.
Mark..
I am using 10.11.1. Juan Arauz did all of that. It didn't fix the problem and when he installed Yosemite, my backup had been altered to only read in El Capitan, so we reinstalled that. I have spent several days for many hours with Apple Support.
I know MS products are giving me problems....but they are MS for MAC bought and paid for and have worked for 5 years perfectly until El Capitan. Also, MagicJack does not work any longer....yes, it seems Apple didn't get with them to get a good integration before launching El.
Feels like old times (as the song goes)....when I used a PC.
Penny, I tried to help you because I appreciate you as a friend. Any further advice, let's do it offline.
For the record, I ran an IT support business in California with many Silicon Vally CEOs and execs as clients. The FIRST RULE of installing software updates is to make a clone backup of the system THAT WILL NOT BE CHANGED so that in the worst case you can give the client back the exact computer that they came in with.
If Juan (or anyone doing home surgery) did not do that, then he has primary responsibility for what has happened. Doesn't matter what the OS is, OSX, Linux, Ubuntu, MS - MAKE A BACKUP before operating.
As for the compatibility issues, Apple seeds developers with many advance betas of new releases so that they can adapt their software. Most do, some do not, like Adobe and apparently Magic Jack. It is their repsonsibility to make sure their software works, not Apple's.
Val, thank you for reminding my why I don't do this kind of work for money any more. And why I don't hang out on ning.

The word in silicon valley is that Apple is now the Microsoft of the 1990s. Interestingly, my Windows 7 computer runs flawlessly, after upgrading my Mac to Yosemite, it's been unstable and consistently crashes. Boy have things changed!
