I am a former 6 month guest of beautiful Boquete. I love that place with all my heart and I post this with only the intention of keeping people safe. Almost three years ago when Janet Lange died, Lee asked me to post what I did because of the libel laws there. I am in America and safe to say the following.
Please keep yourself safe from this man. His name is Dario Belanfonte. At the very least he terrified Janet Lange in an early death. Only being with her for four months he then took all of her belongings, held her remains from her family while he tried to gain pity from the town asking for money to bury her. Her family wanted her remains signed over to them. He refused. She laid in a morgue for 40 days while he drank and acted a fool. It was her friends that paid to bury her. He stole her Facebook, dropping family and friends and collected her pension in Canada.
Since then he has terrorized and abused several women in town, threatening them with things to disgusting to post here. He has attempted to extort money from them. He has gone online, met women...agreed to do work for them...accepted payment and then kept money. When they react he posts nude photos of them all over the internet.
While he is bi-polar, what he is more is a complete psychopath. He bit someone in the face a week or so ago at Skateland. He was carrying a knife. Most of the women he has since abused there are too terrified to come forward. Aside from the first five years of his life he lived in America up until 8 years ago when America could be less one less drug addicted woman beater. He is only in Panama because he had no where else to go. His favorite romantic targets are women who live in other countries, trying desperately for a ticket out of Panama.
He is dangerous and he is desperate. If you see him, go in the other direction as quickly as possible. Though rumored he is injured and has left town, I was forwarded an email from a woman he ripped off in Poland that he was attempting to subscribe to her Youtube page. He has several favorite targets in Boquete and I'm concerned he's just squatting there somewhere until he can make good on his endless threats.
There are excellent people there that loved Janet Lange that stood up for her and have been terrorized ever since. Three years of looking over their shoulders and being threatened with everything from deportation to sodomy. That's wrong. At this point he's just feral and he won't be picky about who he terrorizes because he's at the end of his rope.
He's highly intelligent and a master manipulator. People with vulnerable personalities can sit down with him for five minutes and he will convince you that people don't like him because they are racist. Thats ridiculous, and just how he manipulates and invokes pity. People don't like him because he's a horrific human being and dangerous as they come. I have countless messages he has sent to women that are so abusive and repulsive it makes me physically ill that someone who was like a Mother to me ever married him. I still hurt for her every day.

I have to post this. If it spares anyone there further harm it's worth getting kicked off Ning. If something happened and I could have warned someone ahead of time and didn't I would have a very hard time living with myself. Janet and I dreamed together of soulmates. She met the devil. I haven't dated since and might never. That is how much all of this continues to haunt. Please stand with the women you know he is terrorizing, he hates all women. It could be any one of you. When I posted what I did, I did it for the community. I can never come back there until there was indisputable proof he would never return because Im certain my life would be in danger. I was happy to do as Lee requested. He saw Dario as a menace to the community because he is.

Please let it be known, Boquete Ning cannot confirm nor deny these accusations and must be fair to all parties and ask the OP to feel free to make their opinions known on their own website and or social media voice. Ning cannot be part of said accusations and for this reason will close this post and soon delete. We are also against anyone who every does nay harm to another human being for any reason and wish all people to remain safe from any physical harm.

What can the US Embassy do? This man is a Panamanian citizen in his own country.
These ladies need to file denuncias with the Panamanian judicial system and also file restraining orders with their local corigadors.
I understand and agree 100% with what you are saying about this man...however, I would like to correct something. I am the owner of Skateworld of Boquete. There have been no "bitings/assaults there at that business. There were assaults/bitings close in a residential area called Oriana.
He did not leave town. I saw him today close to my other business in town.
