1. Are there any health food stores in Boquete? If not, are there any in David?
2. Are there any doctors that you know that will do Vit. C IV's?
3. Can you get natural products there that are "fragrance-free"?
4. Can you get bio-dentical hormones and compounded prescriptions?
5. Can you get grass-fed beef, ground chicken and turkey that are raised naturally without hormones? Is it possible to find natural goat-meat? What other safe meats are available?
Thanks...

I have a fair amount of knowledge about alternative medicine, shipping from the U.S. and other things you have asked about. I am about "typed-out" because of some other matters I have been dealing with and also have a problem affecting my use of my desktop computer, leaving me to use my laptop which is very high quality but still a laptop with a flat keyboard and odd ergonomics. If you use Skype, I would be glad to have a conversation with you about some of these things. My email address is rhgusn@gmail.com. With that you can obtain my Skype ID and send a contact request.

Sherry, you can be sure there is a lot of mold here. There's no way to know if the air has pesticides in it. Dry season is VERY windy, so anything could be blowing around, but the wind also blows bad stuff away, so who knows what's in the air at any given time? The other thing that bothered a friend of mine who has chemical sensitivities is the black smoke belching from the backs of poorly maintained cars and trucks. Cars here do not have pollution controls.
There might be one compounding pharmacy in Panama City, but I wouldn't count on it.
You might find organic meat, but not a steady supply, and not in the stores. Somebody else might know about that. All the beef is grass fed here, but who knows what else they give the cattle?
You really have to be flexible to live here. I think you will have a hard time with what's available compared to what you're used to in the U.S. There's no Trader Joe's!
Judy, thanks so much for your information. I've added you as a "friend" if that's o.k. I'd like to ask you another questions. Thanks...
I accepted your friend request. You can send me your question.
So if you order from Amazon or somewhere here in the states, it may or MAY NOT make it through customs?
And I'm assuming it's very expensive to do that as well. Am I right?
You can order through the mail, and my experience is that little or nothing is lost in the mail. But, yes, it's expensive.
I know of two people who left because of mold issues,. and I'm sure there are others. We fight mold constantly.
Pesticides and herbicides are used extensively in the agricultural sector here and throughout the province, which is the "bread basket" of Panama.
I agree with Cloudless. You would be miserable here, and I would hate for you to undergo the expense and trauma of moving only to find this out later. It happens to a lot of people.
If your husband insists on moving to Panama, Panama City would be a much better bet. Virtually everything is available there, air conditioning keeps the mold at bay, and it is far from agricultural regions.
Sherry, I can tell you right now you won't be happy here. I've known people who wanted the same sorts of things that your looking for and they all left after a short time. Some times you can get things, some times not, maybe today, maybe next week month or year. It's not about these specific items, because I'm willing to bet that this is just your short list. I've found the people who have a lot of requirements like you do don't last long here.
Cloudless, thanks for your honest reply.
It is even hard to get some of these things in the states sometimes...
Some areas are better than others...
But yeah.....
I'm very allergic to mold and insecticides/pesticides, etc.
I'm assuming these are also very big problems there as well since Boquete is a farming community with so much rain????
I would love to hear what others say about this as well.
Thanks..

Thank-you! I've actually already done the 2 things you suggest to some degree, but I still haven't found the answers to my questions (but I'll do some more). BUT that's why I was hoping that someone who actually lived there would be able to answer my questions. Thanks! :)
