I'm trying to find out about Boquete and the surrounding area.....
Is there a lot of farmland surrounding this city?
If so, do most of the farmers use insecticides/pesticides, etc.?
Where is the best place to live in that area where there is just mountain land or animal farms where the insecticides/pesticides would not be blowing your way?
Where in Panama that is NOT a tropical climate can you find truly "pure air"?
Is the climate in Boquete condusive to mold issues or is it a drier climate since it is higher altitude?
THanks

I see what you mean Fran.
What about that fiery lake of eternal doom I keep hearing about down there? Do they have the mold, too?
Yup, and it comes from the moldy old farts who failed to follow the signs and got shoved in.
Where in Panama that is NOT a tropical climate can you find truly "pure air"? It would be somewhere in the mountains away from any agricultural production. Maybe in Veraguas.
I thought that Boquete was in the mountains, but no???
How far is Veraguas from Boquete?
Boquete is in the mountains, at the base of Baru Volcano. But here, they do farming on the sides of the mountains like in Peru or Bolivia. Chiriqui is an agricultural province.
To answer some of your questions, Boquete is a small town located in Chiriqui Province. Chiriqui grows most of the produce for Panama and export. The use of pesticides and fungicides is widespread. All around Boquete is farmland. Although we are at a higher altitude ( I live at 4600 feet ) it is not dry when you consider the rainy season lasts from May to December. We use dehumidifiers year round to control the mold. Most houses are cement block with adobe in and out, but the humidity is a problem. I don't think this climate would be suitable for you, but it is always best to visit to find out for yourself. Good luck
