Would love to hear some recommendations for a lawyer to help us set up our visas. Have heard about Mayra Lamboglia but we are wanting a few more references and if anyone is ok with kinda giving us an idea of what they have paid to get there visas that would be very helpful. Just so we want get sticker shocked to bad. We will be getting the Friendly Nations visa. Thanks and have a wonderful day

We will be in Boquete 3/19-3/25/2015. I'm wondering if we should contact one of those local attorneys you mentioned now to see if they would meet with us during our stay...do you have contact info for them? Thx!
Is this your first trip to Boquete, Katy? It sounds like it is. If so, I suggest that you move more slowly. You will need to visit first to decide if you really like it, and then the prevailing wisdom is to rent for at least a year to make sure you want to stay before investing money in a visa, a house, etc. Many people find the cultural adjustment too great and leave after a short period of time.
Thanks Bonnie for the insight. We had never planned on buying-the biggest question is how furnished or unfurnished a home can we expect to find? What do we do with our "stuff" here in Calif? We don't own property right now so we'd have to store our stuff that we can't part with during a "trial run" of living abroad in Boquete for 6 mos-1yr. If we do move we agree we would rent for a year or so, but again, what about our stuff? We keep coming back to that. We don't mind the expense of shipping our stuff (our truck and belongings) so that's not a factor...We will be visiting 3/18-3/26 so we plan on checking out rental properties, locations along the elevation that suit us weather-wise, shopping in David for larger items, etc. Medical/dental care too. I know I ask a lot of "future" type questions but I need to be thinking about the processes of it all now to help with deciding about moving! It's not easy, but it's not impossible either! Thx for your reply!
Yes
I edited my reply to add an opinion. See above.
If you are wanting to use the friendly nations visa you'd better hurry. This is under intense scrutiny in the assemblea at the moment and last night's news reported that it would be phased out ( no time frame given).
buena suerte!

Already ordered the book just waiting for it to get here
We will be making our second trip in April. I have fallen in love with the Boquete area. I appreciate the people of this forum as they are so willing to share their wisdom about moving abroad. The Handbook is the next step to becoming more educated. Then contacting a local attorney. I want to support the local community in keeping business in Boquete.
