I urge those interested in the sickness of pathetic trolls to google "internet troll pathology. It really explains the disgusting life of these passive-aggressive weasels who often use fake names and weak humor to hide their sadistic and hateful nature. You will recognize many of them on Ning.
You need to be a member of Boquete Ning to add comments!
Now that there is peace and happiness in the kingdom I want to offer a little history. When the US pulled out of the Canal Zone I believe there were around 30000 high paid people that left Panama. This combined with a few other problems threw Panama into serious economic problems. Poverty was rampant and jobs were scarce. The government promised results and begged for patience. Into this environment came International Living and a legion of expats with money to burn. People bought land and houses without ever visiting Panama. Two or three days in Boquete was a long enough visit to decide to invest. I believe very few realized the magnitude of poverty and distress that plagued Panama nor the impact this vast influx of money would have on hundreds of thousands of people, some without enough food for their families or decent housing . They were selling their land for pennies while the expats built what appeared to be palaces to the Panamanians. At that point the phrase went around "if you are going to live in a palace you better have a €&@)&& moat". Panama is much better off today but it is still a poor country.
Mr Van Harn I just want to say I am sorry if I have offended you and I am sure you are a very capable and dependable person and I wish you the best of luck.
David, if you don't win the lottery you can just buy a golf cart and race around the house on the deck. Actually what you joke about was a step in the development of this house. A rotating restaurant in a casino High up over Vegas. But it moved so slowly I just walked around to see everything.
A virtual handshake on that, Jim. That post is a pleasant surprise, and I really appreciate it. I wasn't offended, but realized we were in a contentious debate.
I actually spent a number of years designing and selling solar thermal - heat and hot water systems - and spent a lot of time working with home and commercial/industrial building designers. I find your design interesting - kind of like a tree house with its own trunk. Perhaps not my personal choice, but then again I'm a renter and will not be building a home.
In an area with smaller trees, particularly the savannah areas similar to Alto Boquete and Caldera, living one story up could enhance the views as well - especially without security bars on the windows and doors.
If I win the lottery - I still would want a rotating one!
You are correct about my knowledge of the internet. However I posted a few test ads only through a young woman who is studying the internet. The ads went viral and I simply responded to errors. If you check I think there were only three or four ads that see over a thousand views. I contacted the forum management and was told to go for it. I think this was because of a delayed communication at the top. While I was being criticized this morning for advertising on the forum there were business ads on the forum. I think this has now stopped and everyone may be in sink. As for the touchy subject of bars on the windows, I have been listening to people complaining about these for thirteen years here in Panama. Everybody hates the necessity due to juega vivo. I offered a possible solution.
No, this is the real Jim Tosch and I will not even try to tell you what you are, Fran would send me flying in a minute. Juega vivo is the game of life and everyone but you knows the significance.
Since you seem to be angry and upset, let me do that for you:
"I am a retired man - an extranjero living in Boquete - who has a decent education and demeanor, and who analyzes situations and discusses things rationally."
Most ningbats are already aware of that.
Your opinion may be different - but likely wrong. Everyone didn't kiss up to you here, and apparently your fragile ego is quite bruised.
You started this discussion with the title "Sadistic, cowardly trolls." That is, in fact, a false premise, and it says a lot about where you are coming from. I took you up on that challenge - which was a weak attempt by you at juega vivo - one upsmanship. I am neither sadistic nor a troll, but honest and open in my discussions.
If it is true that "No, this is the real Jim Tosch," it is quite a different personality than the hundreds of successful business persons, managers, professionals, executives, and even home builders that I have worked with in my lifetime across the U.S. and in the corporate world of California's San Francisco.
"Juega vivo is the game of life and everyone but you knows the significance."
Actually, that is true and the general definition, and it relates generally to "survival of the fittest" as in the games humans play. However, there are many variations of it's colloquial usage here, and many gringos do not know what it means. Nice try at a put-down, however. Adds even more to your on-line resume as businessman

This reminds me of a Jerry Springer episode ....
LOL. That really is funny mate. Well done.
Quick - close the thread. There's peace and happiness here now. :)
