It would seem that most people would leave their windows open during the day and possibly at night for fresh air. Do you feel it's safe to do so if you live close to town and or in an ungated community? What do you do? Thank you.

One of the problems I have noted in my eleven years here is that many rental houses don't have bars, and many newcomers who rent those houses without knowing any better have been burglarized.
That's a good heads-up on rentals Bonnie. Thanks so much. Makes sense! Cheers!
Most of you have suggested that you don't open your windows unless you have security bars and good screens. A few people have shared that they do leave their windows open. My question is, if you leave all your windows closed all the time, doesn't it feel stuffy? I know I'll find out when we come down there next year, but I've been a person who loves to have windows and a gentle breeze in my bedroom at night. The idea of having one's windows closed all the time sounds like being in a tomb. Anything you care to share on that would be helpful.
You don't have to keep your windows closed all the time. I don't know anybody who does that. I have lots of windows open, but they have security bars. Regarding scorpions, this is the tropics. Lots of bugs and other critters. There are precautions to take. You learn what these are by finding a scorpion on a shoe you left on the floor, or a bedspread that touches the floor allowing a place for a scorpion to climb into your bed. You have to be mindful of your environment.
Thank you Judy. Sounds like it's just important to be "aware" and pay attention. Make friends with the bugs, right? (LOL) Love your cartoon.
Not if you rent ( I assume you are renting) a property that is light and airy, with plenty of space. Also, if you have good ceiling fans, that also helps. Another thing to keep in mind that this area has about 10 ( give or take) microclimates which means depending on where you are staying can mean good or better weather. So when you do come here, make sure you check out all the different areas.
Thank you Catherine. That all sounds like just good common sense. Glad to know I don't have to keep all the windows closed most of the time. Cheers!
Probably best that Deborah and Michael and Bob consider another retirement location with more perfectly suited attributes.
You’re funny.
I don't find it funny. A couple and Bob are asking perfectly legitimate questions about Boquete. "Joseph Moore" suggests they move on move on to find a perfect place to land. I smell a troll. Moore's comment added nothing to the discussion.
