We are moving to Boquete area in March and are looking to ship boxes of household goods qnd computers to Panama, 10- 15 boxes has anyone used eshop? I talked to the woman at office by rental car agency and she was very nice but they do not have a website. Thanks
You need to be a member of Boquete Ning to add comments!
I e-mailed eshop & never heard back. Someone gave me their e-mail address, so one can't be 100% certain, but the person who gave it to me is their customer. That's the extent of my experience with them.
I used a shipping company when I moved to Panama, but they only took it as far as Miami & then I got MBE to do the rest.
My boxes had been rummaged through, things were scratched, & my office chair had been sliced with a knife.
MBE refused to take any responsibility for it, so be careful.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Only sending some kitchen things and a few pictures so still not sure what to do.

Well, Kathy, here's the way I see it. If I pay the money to Copa Airlines ($175.00) for my extra bag, that means I will be able to take three 70-lb. bags on my first flight to Panama. Now, assuming I can get my three 70-lb. bags on the bus from PTY to David, I'll be good to go. No one but me (and, of course, the baggage handlers at the airport) will be handling my luggage. And, since I'll be renting an SUV in David for my stay in Boquete, I shouldn't have any trouble fitting them in my transportation. Then, once I arrive in Boquete, I will find a decent storage facility (see other threads about that) to keep my extra luggage until we arrive a couple of months later.
This means that we will be able to get a total of nine 70-lb. bags into Boquete. On Copa, if you fly business (first) class, you can take two 70-lb. bags plus an additional one for $175.00. So, three for the first trip of mine and six when we both fly down. Total additional cost of $525.00, which we are budgeting for. If we can't get all the clothes and precious personal possessions in this amount of luggage, then there is something wrong with us.
Shipping parcels to Panama is an iffy proposition. I found that traveling via Copa Airlines allows me an extra 50-lb. piece of luggage for $175.00 if economy class, and an extra 70-lb. bag at $175.00 if business (first) class. Compare that to $400 plus for shipping a 50-70lb. package yourself.
Simple...I'll be taking extra luggage on my preliminary trips to acquire housing, and my wife and I will take extra luggage when we arrive later.
Also, because the "puddle jumper" from Panama City to David does not have the same luggage rules as Copa, that means we won't be flying from PTY to David. Bus trip for us.
Research, research, research. What a pain, but without it, no gain.

Kathy...when we moved here, we shipped several large boxes. There were 21 to be exact. We had set up a Mailboxes, etc account on a prior visit and used an existing Fed Ex account we had for business purposes in the States. I would NOT recommend this, unfortunately. It was very expensive and the boxes were barely together when we got them. I mean, I know that boxes get thrown around a little but these were heavy boxes...not easily "thrown around" in other words. I would like computers or anything else like that would be in peices when they got here. There has to be a better way.

Look forward to meeting

I hope this helps you.

The reason I chose Delta is b/c they allow 2 bags for International flights. Not sure if they still do.
All extra baggage/overweight bag prices have gone up as of the new year : (
Mike, from PTY to David you can send your bags for $6 each with Fletes Chavales
