My neighbors Ray and Wendy, decided to walk 'The Way', a 500 mile trip crossing Northern Spain. Wendy is blogging their progress, and would like to share it with you. Her blog is www.awaytosantiago.com
It is a marvellous read, and I am in awe of them! A film was made several years ago, called 'the Way'. I haven't seen it, but it got good reviews I believe.

One of the waitresses in my favourite pub did the trek 2 years ago, and an over eighty-year old neighbour at our condo in France is doing it as we speak. This is his seventh time, each time a slightly different route as there are many different starting points, and always between 700 and 1200 km, in about 40 days! He is a retired army general. Every winter, he carves a beautifully decorated cane from a walnut branch and when the trip is over he discards it because it has become too short!
The Santiago-de-Compostela trek has been on our bucket list for three years now and we hope to finally do it next spring, starting in Arles, France...
Thanks for the link, Maureen - I'll follow their journey!
Wendy talks about meeting a gentleman who is 85 - I wonder if that was your friend. Coincidences seem to happen on the walk. I think you will get many good tips from following their progress on the blog.
