This isn’t the first discussion posted regarding the road situation in Boquete but it seems to me that there might be a stance of empathy towards those directly associated with the Boquete roads. I don’t think we should be overlooking who is getting hurt by this (and I’m not thinking of us expats); the businesses that are suffering through lack of patronage, taxi/bus/truck traffic that has to negotiate the roads, those that have to get in and out to work etc. Local reaction is livid as I’m sure most everyone is aware and I get the impression that the hands on road workers are being burdened with the weight of the completion date on their shoulders. As we know sh#t rolls down hill.
The Mayor, although not directly responsible for oversight of this work, is the one who has been taking the heat from the general public anyway. Despite being a very progressive and productive leader in other areas of his administration the project has killed any further political aspirations he may have had.

I have no quarrel with the Mayor, but neither do I see evidence of his "being a very progressive and productive leader." I recall that during the campaign he mentioned fixing the sidewalks and tearing down the derelict building across from Bruna, for example, but have seen no activity in either regard. I'm not criticizing because I don't have enough information to criticize. Can you tell us the basis for your opinion, Keith?

I am a next door neighbour of the father, mother and grandmother of the Mayor. I know the whole story.
Not yet finished, but they are working hard. The official statement was that they will finish by November 27th. However it might take one week plus longer.

Will via Boquete be open on Sunday for traffic at Cefati?
Or will it be closed for the entire duration?

There's an independence day parade on the 28th, so they'll probably have the main streets ready by then. No way will they have them all done.
