The Brexit vote is not an end. It is only the beginning of what will feel like an endless financial car crash.
I realize nobody will read this
Here we go again: Once more the pseudo intellectual has proclaimed " lack of intellectual curiosity", " lack of deep thinkers". How about learning to spell the word Chinese correctly, Chines doesn't quite make it unless you are referring to a 'steep-sided river valley where the river flows to the sea'.
Ya gotta love these pseudo intellectuals.
A typo is the best you got? LOL Speaks volumes.
Kevin,
The Canal should be like the Trans Alaska Pipeline generating lots of cash for the people.
Unfortunately it has not worked out well.
The expansion was a good idea but the execution was typical of construction projects here.
Remember the power poles in the middle of the new paved road to David? They forgot to negotiate who would be responsible to remove them.
The road project to Santiago is not much different.
The water/sewer project in Bajo is going to real enjoyable.
Is that deep enough for you?
"The road project to Santiago is not much different". I don't even know what that means. Your idea of deep and mine are obviously very different.
I guess I have to spell out the cause of laying off 2 million workers in only two industries. Their steel plants are coal fired. The steel plants are closing because of the lack of demand worldwide. The economy is weak in most every country.
Globalization has far reaching consequences. Many Latin American countries are suffering from lack of demand for their commodities, oil, iron ore, copper, precious metals, etc. Lack of demand, and the resulting low prices, are results of lack of consumption from struggling economies. The new canal will not be the the cash cow hoped for. There is a glut of empty shipping vessels all over the world.
Free enterprise depends on a demand for products to keep people employed to be able to pay the taxes necessary for countries to develop and prosper.
I didn't read about the cause of the 2 million layoffs. I figured it out in my own "pseudo-intellectual" (pat's insulting words) brain. China is dumping steel anywhere they can. The Obama administration imposed 500% tariffs to protect what's left of the U.S. steel industry. The price of steel in Panama has dropped 20% in the last six months.
It would be great if the world had simple problems with simple solutions. The fact is it's a complicated world and the EU is a good example. Rather than being black or white- right or wrong it's way more complex. Like most things the EU is good in some ways and bad in others. The majority of Brits chose to go it alone. Time will tell if that was a wise decision.
There, that's more informative and deeper than a copy/paste meme. I'm talking to you GMB.
Kevin,
I guess "coward" is the new go to word for liberals.
The sun will rise and set tomorrow regardless of this "crisis".
The true evil people in this are the bureaucrats in Brussels for saying this will not be an amicable divorce. All those greedy bastards care about is the money Britain pays them in extortion every month.
In 2015 the UK government paid £13 billion to the EU budget, and EU spending on the UK was £4.5 billion. So the UK’s ‘net contribution’ was estimated at about £8.5 billion.
After paying all this money to fat cats who live like Kings the British people are told what kind of tea pot they are allowed to use.
As to lack of demand for commodities what planet are you on? There is no demand for oil or precious metals?
The socialist utopia of Venezuela has oil out the ying yang so why are they in turmoil?
Socialism doesnt work.
You have yourself a wonderful day I know I will.
The demand for precious metals I am no expert on. I don't pay attention. I was referring to metals and raw materials used in manufacturing. The bottom has dropped out of demand with the lagging world economy. A big reason Latin American economies are suffering. The reason why China laid off 2 million coal and steel workers. The reason steel prices in Panama have dropped 20% in the last 6 months.
Your UK and EU numbers and comments don't impress me. You could have pulled them out of your arse for all I know.
It's apparent I'm wasting my time with you. Educate yourself. A good source of news and information regarding Latin America is the Miami Herald International Edition. It's as unbiased a newspaper I've come across.
You seem obsessed with Socialism. I have no idea how that word entered into this discussion.
As far as being a coward, it's been pointed out by me and others that to be so opinionated, and then hide behind a wall of anonymity, is an act of cowardice. What is your reasoning/rationale for remaining anonymous?
Here's a great article in NY Times about Panama Canal Expansion
