Yes the new traffic pattern...well CLEARLY some are not well informed. The trip back from David this morning would have been quite harrowing if I was not so well used to this road. Oy.
The good news is that they have streamlined* the revisado process...all in one place now ( I do mine at Felipe Rodriguez) and I did not have to have the inspection,( well the car that is) just the photos and it cost, all up..$11.00...wuaoooow!
Small mercies.

The traffic was flowing smoothly this morning. No police. Of course, one idiot was on the wrong side of the road. That's all it takes. Only one speeding truck, the rest going the speed limit.
Important to note that the new Traffic Pattern does not take effect until Monday. Watch out for those who are jumping the gun already, and they are.
'revisado' .... is that the vehicle registration?
Susan, this is one thing that, though essentially without purpose, is easy to do. You just go to a place that does the "inspection," present your title and proof of insurance, they take a photo of the car and check its VIN number, you pay a fee, and you're gone. You have to present the revisado paperwork to have your license plate renewed, so there's no getting around it.
thank you bonnie....you make it sound easy :)
Susan, a REVISADO certificate is obtained when a vehicle has it's Annual 'Inspection'. Usually it's just a photo shoot. It is necessary to obtain this document in order to pay the annual Registration Fee and Plate.
It is interesting to see how the main objetive of the Revisado have been lost in the last 20 years.
I do remember when the Revisado was done by the Policia de Transito back in the military ditatorship era. At that time you should have your car in pefect condition to pass the revisado. They checked the brakes, all the lights, the car overall look and if you didnt pass it you have to go to your mechanic shop, do the repairs and return back. Of course that there were some people that bypassed this procedure because of "corruption" and some good friends they used to have at the Transito.
Now I found that at the authorized shops for the Revisado they only check the vin number, the general aspect of the car and take some photos of the car all around. Nothing else.
So, what used to be a genuine auto safety inspection is now just an inconvenience to the driver and a money grab by the government.
pretty much the same in the states now...they used to check all, including blinding head lights , no more ,so many drivers blind you at night, very dangerous...they are more interested in collecting the fees for the 'emissions'..."save the planet ,but not the people"
