A Fox news Special has just aired a gut wrenching documentary on deaths by medical doctor mishaps. One Doctor was asked point blank, how many deaths were caused a year by Doctor error and he said, "Its really about 250,000 deaths per year. " So I think we should all leave the gun debate once and for all and focus more on the dangers of Doctor's and Hospitals.

Si, I just sent a long list of what to watch for with doctors "practicing medicine" in a e-mail . I am usually one for investigation before I opt for treatment, well, this time in David I opted for a knee" cleaning "as the Dr. stated, well 5 months later all is worse and worse, had I done the internet search I would have readily found out it was without merit, putting it in the mildest form of political correctness.
So now to the States to see how I can correct my constant pain and malfunctioning knee.

The best doctors are sought after for the most lucrative positions and as yet Panama isn’t on the map for those positions.
My wife last year september broke her right per arm badly. 1 day in Chiriqui Hospital, nice room good food, operation, titanium rod and 2 srews all in 3,500 Dollars. Perfect job. Try that in the USA or Europe.
Robert, was that covered by insurance and if so, what type? U.S. Panama? Universal? Any idea what comparable would be in the U.S./Europe?
For those who think that you can get full access to 'world class' medicine on demand or urgently in Panama, read this and weep. This is one story of many!
Do not listen to the anecdotes from expats here. How nice a Doctor is does not refer to their training, expertise or access to second opinions. The best solution if you live here is to keep your Medicare alive in the US and an address in a state that offers Medicare Advantage without any premium. Then you'll have a lifeline back once you will need it.
A plane ticket home is cheaper than the agony or disability from the even worse medicine practice available in Panama for most chronic or acute conditions.
After all is a Jubliado or Favored Nation, so much better then a Pensionado? You can't avoid paying IRS anyway if you have any IRA's or other assets anyway, read FCDA lately?

Actually, so is the data on "homicides by weapons" skewed. It includes suicides (they will find an alternative way), any death form any Police Officer in the furtherance of Law Enforcement. Not talk by Pols or Media about the 13 deaths each week in Chicago where they would get the pistolas from gangs imported for open borders anyway.
